ROC strengthens ties at 2013 APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting

:::
The ROC delegation led by Minister of Finance Chang Sheng-ford communicated with its American and Indonesian counterparts on issues of mutual concern and strengthened international partnerships at the 2013 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Finance Ministers' Meeting, Premier Jiang Yi-huah said today after a briefing by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) about the event.

The premier thanked the delegation for its hard work and asked it to continue taking advantage of APEC conferences to explain the government's successful fiscal policies as well as to strengthen its fiscal strategies and practices by learning from other states' experiences.

"Major topics of the meeting were the promotion of cooperation between the public and private sectors to guide private investment in fundamental infrastructure projects and the flexible implementation of financial policies and structural reforms," Jiang said.

"The joint ministerial statement can be referred to as the collected economic wisdom of the Asia-Pacific region. It is a valuable reference for policymaking, and I would like to ask the MOF to send it to all relevant agencies as an aid in building economic momentum and sound finances."

The 2013 APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting was held from September 19 to 20 in Bali, Indonesia, where the Taiwanese delegation held bilateral talks with counterparts from mainland China, Indonesia and the U.S. Aside from MOF officials, delegation members included staff from the Financial Supervisory Commission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant agencies.
