Premier Cho receives new AIT Director Raymond Greene

:::

Premier Cho Jung-tai on Friday received Raymond Greene, the new director of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Taipei Office. The premier noted that this is Director Greene's third time coming to Taiwan to assume an official post. He said he firmly believes the director will serve as a vital conduit for future communication between Taiwan and the U.S., and will be witness to this administration's efforts to maintain steady relations with the U.S. and other democratic partners around the world in order to jointly uphold security and stability in the Asia-Pacific and Indo-Pacific regions, as well as promote the development of peace across the Taiwan Strait.

Premier Cho emphasized that Taiwan stands ready to be a nation that fulfills its international responsibilities to itself, its partners, and the region. In relation to security cooperation, Taiwan hopes for deeper defense industrial cooperation with the U.S., with Taiwan incorporated into the U.S. defense industrial supply chain in order to support the joint research, development and production of a range of high priority items needed for Taiwan's national defense. Regarding economics and trade, Taiwan hopes both sides can deepen bilateral cooperation to drive forward Taiwan's participation in the U.S.-led Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity, and together contribute to enhancing regional economic and trade standards.
