Developing tourism along Taiwan's Tropic of Cancer corridor and southern coast

:::

Taiwan lies along the Tropic of Cancer and at the juncture of the Eurasian and Philippine Sea plates, offering stunning landscapes and ecological diversity that underpin its exceptional tourism appeal. To integrate resources and advance regional tourism, the Executive Yuan has approved a 2026-2029 program comprising 10 key initiatives to develop tourist areas located on and south of the Tropic of Cancer. The goal is to achieve cross-regional integration that connects cultural and historical sites, ecological conservation areas, geological landscapes and recreational attractions, enabling the public to engage more deeply with local nature and cultures, while drawing more international visitors to bolster regional tourism.

Ten key initiatives

Tropic of Cancer corridor: Launch six initiatives to integrate the resources of major tourism areas along latitude 23.5°N—Yushan National Park and the Alishan, Penghu, Sun Moon Lake, Siraya, and East Longitudinal Valley National Scenic Areas—connecting the diverse attractions of central and southern Taiwan and forming a world-class tourism corridor and oasis.

Southern coastal arc: Implement four initiatives to link the resources of the Pingtung County Government, Kenting National Park, and the East Coast, Southwest Coast and Dapeng Bay National Scenic Areas, showcasing Taiwan's coastal beauty along the western edge of the Pacific.
