Asia Silicon Valley 2.0—Making Taiwan a driving force for digital innovation in Asia

:::

To expand applications of the artificial intelligence of things (AIoT) and improve the startup investment environment, the government rolled out the Asia Silicon Valley Development Plan 2.0 (2021-2024) based on the achievements of the original Asia Silicon Valley Development Plan. By accelerating the evolution of industries through AIoT and driving the future of industry through innovation and entrepreneurialism, Asia Silicon Valley 2.0 will incorporate artificial intelligence (AI), fifth-generation mobile communication technology (5G) and other key technologies of the digital economy to expand the scope of internet-of-things (IoT) applications, encourage export of AIoT solutions, and accelerate the growth and exit of startup businesses.

Strategies and objectives

Expand AIoT tech applications: Accelerate R&D of key AIoT technologies, promote the domestic development of an open 5G network, strengthen 5G and AI digital tech applications, and encourage interdisciplinary cooperation on smart city applications.

Improve the startup development environment: Expand investment and financing to accelerate startup growth, encourage overseas talent to come work in Taiwan, devise multiple startup exit strategies to create a positive cycle, and promote the Startup Island TAIWAN brand to open up business opportunities.

Consolidate systems export capabilities: Deepen relationships with international IoT partners, create a world-class Asia Silicon Valley innovative cluster, and promote the export of AIoT solutions to markets abroad.

Five objectives: Cultivate three world-class systems integration companies. Raise Taiwan's share of the global IoT market (by production value) to 5 percent by 2025. Export 20 AIoT solutions to other countries. Use diverse strategies to enable the exit of 40 startup companies. Facilitate the success of 200 startup businesses.
