The Cabinet on Thursday approved a bill drafted by the Ministry of Culture (MOC) for the establishment of a cultural content promotion institute.

Premier Lai Ching-te said the purpose of this bill is to set up a non-departmental public body that will attract more professionals, promote resource integration and bring in investments. Using the concept of a “national team,” the institute will develop the cultural content industry, help Taiwan’s audiovisual industry make inroads into new markets, enlarge the scale of these industries, and raise production capacity.

The bill will now be sent to the Legislature for review. The premier asked the MOC to work closely with lawmakers across party lines and communicate with all sectors of society to gather support and ensure swift passage of the bill.
